Abstract:  The collection consists of papers accumulated by Elberton Star publisher Robert L. Williford from 1951 to 1993. These files relate to his involvement in the development of the Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake located in Elbert County, Georgia. The records include clippings, photographs, and audiovisual materials documenting the dam’s history as well as reports and correspondence of both the steering committee and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Correspondees of significance include Richard B. Russell, Herman Eugene Talmadge, President Jimmy Carter, William J. Dorn, Philip Landrum, and Douglas Barnard.

Abstract:  The Richard B. Russell, Jr. Collection, Subgroup C, Series XI. Rivers and Harbors contains correspondence, printed materials and publications relating to federal river and harbor projects. Files are subdivided into General, Corps of Engineers, Individual Projects, and Flood Control Projects. The individual projects were relevant to the constituents of the state of Georgia and its neighbors. Any additional non-textual materials originally filed with papers were removed for preservation purposes and improved access. These materials include photographs, audiovisual items, scrapbooks, vertical files, memorabilia, and books.

Abstract:  The collection consists of the papers of Henderson L. Lanham from his service in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1947 to 1957. Includes subject files, correspondence, legislative files, case files, newspaper clippings, press releases, speeches, and political campaign material. The bulk of the materials document Lanham's activities with the House Committees on Public Works, Foreign Affairs, Expenditures in the Executive Departments, and its Special Subcommittee investigating the Veterans Administration. There is also a small amount of personal material.
