Abstract:  T. Rogers Wade Collection of Herman E. Talmadge Materials, Series IV. Audiovisual Materials includes 12 audiocassettes, three phonodiscs containing campaign jingles for Eugene and Herman Talmadge, 16 quarter-inch open reel audio tapes and one Umatic videocassette containing material from Talmadge's 1980 senatorial campaign, and 18 VHS videocassettes, the bulk of which are copies of Herman Talmadge's lenthy interview with Mel Steeley as part of West Georgia College's Georgia Political Heritage oral history program.

Abstract:  The Talmadge C. DuVall Papers is comprised of papers, photographs, and audiovisual materials which document the career of Tal DuVall as an extension agent and then later on as a director for the Cooperative Extension Service at the University of Georgia. The papers also document his career as a Commissioner for the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government. DuVall became a part of the Cooperative Extension Service in 1956 as a county agent for Carrollton, Georgia. In 1965, he became the county agent for Clarke County and eventually rose to the position of district and then university extension agent. This collection is comprised of papers, photographs, and audiovisual material related to DuVall’s careers in Cooperative Extension and the Athens-Clarke County Unification Commission.

Abstract:  One two-page handwritten letter from lawyer, politician, and publisher Thomas E. Watson to Thomas A. Walden, circa 1913. In the letter, Watson expresses his current state of mental health, his support of Ben Walker for Congress, and a brief opinion on state senatorial district schemes.

Abstract:  The collection consists primarily of speeches and press releases written by members of Governor Lester Maddox’s press department. Thomas Talmadge Gresham drafted over 200 speeches during his tenure as a speechwriter for the Governor from 1968 to 1970. Also included are research files maintained by Gresham and various other press department office files, including schedules and assignments. There are also seven photographs and a few pieces of memorabilia from Maddox’s gubernatorial years.

Abstract:  Thomas W. Hardwick (1872-1944), a lawyer and Democrat from Thomasville, Georgia served in the Georgia House of Representatives (1898-1902), represented the 10th district (which included the counties Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington, Wilkinson, and Baldwin) in the United State House of Representatives (1903-1914), and was elected to serve in the United State Senate (1914-1919). After an unsuccessful candidacy for renomination, Hardwick later became governor of Georgia from 1921 to 1923. The collection consists of four letters from Hardwick to constituents Dr. T. M. McIntosh and Mr. R. T. Jones and relates to Hardwick’s opinions on taxation during his gubernatorial years.

Abstract:  The collection consists of legal files and personal papers of Thomas W. Hardwick, U.S. Congressman, U.S. Senator, and Governor of Georgia. The papers include correspondence, speeches, personal manuscripts, newspaper clippings, printed materials, and photographs reflecting Hardwick's political interests and his legal career. The collection includes information pertaining to Hardwick's representation of a negligence suit against the Savannah & Atlanta Railway. Unfortunately, the papers are fragmentary, but in these fragments, Hardwick's philosophy and political beliefs are evident. Correspondence includes Georgia political figures from the 1920's until the 1940s.
